Introducing Allbirds Natural Run Activewear

In 2016, Allbirds’ wool sneakers changed how running shoes were perceived forever. Since then, the company has expanded into eco-friendly footwear and apparel with Tree Breezers ($ 98) and a puffer coat. It’s now possible for Allbirds to sell eco-friendly activewear as well. Natural Run Collection, a new line from the brand, is all about bringing sustainability to your workouts.

This line is primarily made from natural fabrics made for enhancing performance. It includes sports bras, leggings, shorts, and tanks. Among the materials are breathable eucalyptus fibers that are buttery soft, recycled synthetics that are durable, and of course, wool that regulates body temperature. There is only one non-recyclable fabric in the line: spandex, which Allbird’s intends to replace with a more sustainable material.

Zoe Weiner, editor of Well+Good, tested all of the pieces from Allbirds’ new collection. This research is largely promising. Designer Weiner praised the pieces for their unparalleled comfort and beautiful design.

A sports bra and leggings set was exactly what she was looking for in athleisure to lounge around in, she says. It is buttery soft, and I appreciate the length of the sports bra, which has the effect of tricking people into thinking I am wearing a shirt.”

The Allbirds Natural Run Collection is now available

$98.00 Women’s Natural Leggings

Weiner says that these leggings fit like a dream. The fabric has a silky soft blend of eucalyptus fiber, recycled synthetic, and wool that stretches and moves with you. Available in black, grey, burgundy, and navy.

Women’s Natural Run Form Tank — $68.00

Weiner refers to this tank as a sports bra, since it is equipped with a built-in bra for maximum support. With a longline silhouette that sits at the natural waist and a racerback, it’s perfect for moving. From black to grey to burgundy to navy, choose from these colors.

Men’s Natural Run Short — $68.00

Lightweight and comfortable, these airy shorts are ideal for cardio workout. These pants feature a zippered drawstring waistband, deep pockets, and side vents for added breathability. These are available in black, gray, and navy.

Natural Bike Short for Women – $68.00

The bike short trend seems to be taking off, and we’re glad Allbirds has jumped on board. Despite being buttery soft, these socks don’t feel constricting or uncomfortable. A drawcord is also included for improved fit in addition to the elastic waistband. You can also keep your phone, wallet, keys, and other personal items in an internal pocket. It is available in burgundy, black, grey, and navy.

Natural Run Tee – $58.00

You won’t find another shirt like this anywhere else. There’s no carbon footprint here because merino wool and cecalyptus fiber are used to make it. For its feel, it’s lightweight and moisture-wicking, making it perfect for cardio and strength training. Black, white, navy, and light blue are available.

Natural Run Short – $68.00

These running shorts are a lighter alternative to bike shorts or leggings. A hint of stretch enhances the breathability of the fabric. Drawstring waistband, pockets, and effortless fit are all apart of this design. The navy, burgundy, and black colors are available.

Natural Run Tank for Women – $49.00

Made from mesh, this tank is the definition of being ultra-light. It’s perfect for HIIT workouts, jogs, or anything sweaty. You can wear it for your next workout. It’s not cropped nor fitted. Among black, white, burgundy, and light blue you’ll find a perfect match.

According to Weiner, the pieces’ only downside is their sweat-wicking abilities. She got sweaty—very sweaty— and the sports bra and leggings could have done a better job at keeping moisture at bay mid-workout.

While I wouldn’t consider them sweat-proof enough for high intensity workouts (my pants looked wet when I stepped off the mat during a HIIT class), they are good for lower-impact activities like yoga and barre. I’m willing to overlook the sweat stains because the pieces are so cute and comfortable.”

Allbird’s Natural Run line is a frontrunner among eco-friendly, fashionable athleisure brands, according to our beauty and fitness editor. If you’re in the market for a new look for yoga class, or have run out of bike shorts to wear to barre, checkout Allbird’s new gear.
