Have you tried the remarkable effects of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Face Oil? Does it seem all hype to you?

It’s true that there are some products that require a little bit of magic. Some formulas can help reduce wrinkles, but most won’t make you look 20 years younger and eliminate wrinkles overnight. I wanted to test the Midnight Recovery Concentrate by using it every night for a complete week (when I’m committed, I’m committed).

Having used a sample (thanks, Sephora points!) of the face oil, I enjoyed it since it didn’t aggravate my acne like other oils. Midnight Recovery oil embraced my oily-combo skin without complaint despite its greasy texture. I purchased a jumbo-sized bottle when the sample bottle ran out, so it’ll probably last me up until I’m old enough to start earning Social Security.

The promise of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery face oil

A lot of face oils claim to reduce fine lines, smooth, and improve skin texture in just one night. Midnight Recovery face oil moisturizes tired skin, leaving it more supple, and repairs it overnight when it’s “most receptive” to reparation. Aside from being lightweight, it is also said to absorb quickly.

In the week I used Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery face oil, how did I feel?

Considering that I test thousands of beauty products each year as part of my job, I usually don’t fall for hype or overselling, but Kiehl’s marketing convinced me (at least to me). In my general night routine, I usually apply the oil after showering (without toner, serum, or moisturizer), but I applied the oil at night without them. My hands and a jade roller massaged the oil into my skin, and that was it. Upon waking, my face did appear brighter and healthier. I began to wonder if I would break out as time went on. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing, you know.

No zits after 3 days. Kiehl’s oil absorbs relatively quickly, but your face does end up oily. Neither did I feel heavy, nor did my pillow transfer anything to my pillow. The skin on my face was still clear on day five (a difficult task, given that my period was waiting in the shadows, ready to strike). However, it is more important to note that areas normally redder (nose, chin, forehead) calmed down. It is only for makeup I needed the Glossier Skin Tint (normally I need something more heavy).

The results of my experiment were satisfactory (and I didn’t regret my decision to buy the gigantic jar). I noticed that my skin looked younger, more even, and for the first time, it was crystal clear (take that, period). Throughout the day, my skin also seemed less oily, meaning the formula balanced out my skin’s natural oils. This product is calming thanks to the natural lavender oil it’s made of, which I like before bed.

What’s the verdict? I’m a commerce editor, and this is highly hype-worthy. Since I haven’t experienced that problem (yet), I can’t confirm whether or not that is true. Let me know in five years how the prevention works.

Who is the manufacturer of Midnight Recovery face oil?

Yes, that’s it. How do they work so well? What are their magical ingredients? Evening primrose oil is one of the oil’s main ingredients along with lavender oil (hence the scent), and squalane.

Lavender provides anti-inflammatory effects and can even out skin tone (though, if you are sensitive to lavender essential oil, I would not recommend this product); and squalane, a lipid found in olives, promotes hydration by protecting the skin’s barrier. The formula also contains rosemary leaf oil, aloe vera gel, and jojoba oil, which may all help moisturize and protect the skin. It is recommended to speak with a dermatologist before using Midnight Recovery oil (or testing a small patch of skin first before dousing the entire face in it).

My green light goes out to you if you’re still on the fence.
